I think that the only thing that I still need in Affiliate statistics software is the ability yo track conversion on the e-commerce side, which is outside my reach. When using behavioral targeting platforms, you might think that you only need the ability to connect to a POP3 mail and read the mail in order to track conversion rates inside your web analytics platform, but it is not 1005 accurate.

The problem is that I want to know if a sell has been achieved for a specific visitor session. Even if I could read the mail via my web analytics software, I still cannot cross reference the email data with a specific segment of visitors or a specific visitor. I think that in order to do that, we will need to have some kind of API so we can connect to the merchant websites and get the information. If such an API will be available, we can then connect to the merchant website DB and cross reference the data with the data that was collected with our web analytics one. Sound pretty simple, but there is a problem.

The problem is that many Affiliate programs do not support this method. Means, that they don't allow API functionality. So in practice, we have a disconnection between the data so we are left only with the data that was collected via our webs analytics platform.

Maybe one company will aggregate that data and allow affiliate marketers to use the data with their Google Analytics account. That can be awesome.

For now, all I can do is to run various campaigns for different date range and compare the conversions from one date rage against another. Then I can decide which landing page or site personalization method works best for my website or blog.

If you've heard about a software that lets you get information from several merchant and can export that data to different popular web analytics and site personalization platforms. Thanks.
